Chatty Boy

Bruiser was full of words this evening...it may have had something to do with us driving 30 minutes to the Y that had the bouncy house and the yoga class I love...or not!

*********

"I love the hot planet.  I love the sun.  You know, Mama, the sun is in outer space.  The sun is a star!  I learned it on Bubble Guppies!"

*********

And now I can't remember the rest!  ARGH!!!!

Motherhood!

More than anything, I love being a mommy! I love the cuddles, the loves, the sloppy kisses, the dirty little hands...and yes, even the yelling and dirty looks! It's a complete package! One of the things I didn't anticipate was having to say things that should never come out of one's mouth. Here are few examples from the past week:

Me to Bruiser: "Take the car out of the grapes!"

Me to Tater: "Stop licking the ice block!"

Me to Tater: "If you ask me for lunch one more time, you aren't getting lunch!" (okay, that was a moment of insanity...I did feed her lunch!)

Me to Tater: "Why is Wiggles crying? No, Bruiser is not pulling Wiggles' hair. Because he is standing right next to me!"

Me to Bruiser: "Swallow! What IS that coming out of your mouth?"

Can you tell its been a long week? We're holding out for a fabulously relaxing day on Sunday! After being away last weekend, my work being insane this week (union issues...still!), and dance recital stuff Friday and Saturday...we have earned a day to rest and build a vegetable garden (you didn't think we'd actually do nothing, did you?).

Mini Contest: Can you attach any of the quotes to any of the members of the House of Sprout? Not sure what the prize would be, but it might involve one of the children! It's been that kind of a weekend!

Taterisms!

Tater: "Aw, that's precious!"
Daddy: "What does precious mean?"
Tater: "It means when you are sleeping and you are really, really cute!"

+++++++++++++++++++++++

Mama: "What are you building?"
Tater: "We are going to build the house. It's really, really hard but we are gonna try our bestest, Mama!"

And Tater Asked...

"Mama, when you get really old, and really sick, and die...will you take your cell phone with you so I can talk to you?"

Tater-isms!

"Mama, Santa has to blow out all the fires in the fireplaces so he doesn't burn his bum-bum!"
+++++++++++++++++++++++
"Chameleons are animals that are camouflaged - they can change color so you can't see them. Did you know that, Mama? The Wonder Pets taught me all about it!"
+++++++++++++++++++++++
I asked Tater if God lives in her heart and she responded with "No, Mama, Jesus does! Mrs M. (last year's preschool teacher) taught us about digging in our hearts for Jesus."
+++++++++++++++++++++++
"Mama, when you wrap presents can I wrap one too for someone really special...my papa!"

Hiding for Santa!

Tater got to stay up late tonight and watch the Charlie Brown Christmas special and the new Disney special, "Prep and Landing." As we were watching, the elves who "prep" each house for Santa got caught by a child and had their picture taken. We explained to Tater how that was a bad thing because the children aren't supposed to see Santa and the elves. We expected her finish the following sentence "Children are supposed to be..." with "sleeping"...but she didn't! Her response? "Hiding!" Watch out, Santa!

When I Grow Up...

Tater: I want to be a cheerleader when I grow up! And a princess! A princess cheerleader! (Aren't those aspirations all parents would be proud!)

Bruiser: Vroom! Vroom! I be race far driver! I go fast! Like Een!

*********************************************************

Tater: Mama, when you get old and sick and die, can I have your necklace?

(At this point I walked out of room, speechless!)

Daddy: Well, you'll have to share those things with Miss Wiggles.

(And...at this point I walked back in the room, still speechless!)

Talking to Jesus

Last week we headed out to the mommy book club at our church - finally!!!! - after a month of sickness! I was so excited to have adult time and the kids couldn't wait to see their friends. We were the first to arrive, went in the church and I sent the kids to the basement to find the toys. As I followed Bruiser down the stairs, I could hear his chattering voice around the bend in the stairs. Out of curiosity, I asked "Who are you talking to, Bruiser." His simple answer? "I talk to Jesus!" And at the bottom of the steps? A portrait of Jesus! What a sweet moment from a sweet boy!

"Wordless Wednesday Wideo"

And a Tater-ism:

"I love to feed my baby sister...because my mommy and daddy don't!" - And it's so NOT the truth!

Out of the Mouths of Sprouts!

Tater: Momma, I miss Papa and Mimi.
Momma: I'm sorry, Tater, but we'll see them soon.
Tater: Everything would be so much better if they were sitting right next to me!

*************************************

Tater: I'm wearing sweat pants just like you do all the time, Momma! I can be cozy, just like you!
(I guess I need to change up my wardrobe a bit!)

**************************************

Tater (calling Bruiser): Oh, sire! I need your help in the castle!

**************************************

Daddy to Miss Wiggles (at dinner last night): Miss Wiggles, don't lick the table!

**************************************

Momma to Miss Wiggles (this morning after a very LONG night!): Hello, my little bed-buddy! You know, you have your own bed you can sleep in?
Miss Wiggles: *wiggle, wiggle* and *giggle, giggle*

**************************************

Thank goodness it's Friday!

Things You Thought You'd Never Say...

As a parent there are many things you say that you think back on and wonder who in the world has to say such things!

When Tater was little:

"Take the toilet seat off your head!"

When Bruiser was younger:

"Take your hand out of the toilet!"
"Your head is not a weapon!"
"We don't eat the outside of the orange!"

And then came Miss Wiggles! So far we have said:

"See, if you pull your hair, it hurts!"
"Don't lick the dishwasher!"

(And, of course, I'm having a bit if a brain block at the moment! I will add things as I remember then - so check back to this post!)

In Honor of Fall (A Day Early!)

A rare family picture - that to our photographer, Robin!

A few quotes to make you giggles:

Last night, Bruiser got out of the tub and we were sorely lacking in the towel department. They were either in baskets waiting to be put away or still in the multiple piles of laundry in my laundry room (We miss you, Dana - in more ways than one!). So I grabbed the last towel I could find (knowing full-well that Tater and Bruiser were going to have to share it that night!), and called for Bruiser to get out of the tub. I quickly wrapped him the towel hoping Tater wouldn't see what I was using, but no such luck! As soon as Bruiser saw the towel, he quickly announced, "I a princess!" - starting the screaming from Tater and deflating Daddy's male ego.

Then this afternoon as we were driving to preschool, Tater was chattering away - like she always does from the way back of the mini-van where I can't hear half of what she says - about the show "Lazy Town." All of sudden I hear her loud and clear, "I want to get that grown-up stuff and change my hair to pink!" (FYI: The main character in "Lazy Town" has pink hair!)

Dear Santa... (to be read in a mean voice!)

I woke up at around 6:30 this morning (yes, on a Sunday - can you guess how happy I was?) to hearing an argument between Tater and Bruiser. After the fact, I gathered that Bruiser did something that Tater didn't like - it might have had something to do with touching her lovie...but here is the first thing I heard when I woke up:

"I'm going to write a mean letter to Santa and tell him what you did and he won't bring you any toys!"

Oh, the threats!

Quote of the Day

As we were driving along today, running those many weekend errands - you know, the ones that multiply while you are doing them? - Tater piped up from the back of the minivan:

"Mommy, are there babies waiting in Heaven for families that aren't quite ready for them?"

Where does she come from? I wish I could get inside that head -so ahead of her years!

Tater-ism!

Daddy often says that Tater is not allowed to get married or have children until we are dead - he's a bit protective of his little girls! So the other night at dinner, G-Baby was eating her Gerber puffs and Tater, in all seriousness, said "When you and Daddy go to live with God, I'm going to have a baby and feed her those things." Ears, ears, ears!

Women Rule!

Tater and I were laying in bed this morning watching the news and trying to wake up. (Did I mention that it is summer vacation - and I'm on vacation - love it!) Suddenly she turns to me and says:

Tater: Are we womans?
Me: Yes.
Tater: Are they (Daddy and Bruiser) mans?
Me: Yes.
Tater: And you and me are in charge!!!

That girl is gonna go far in life!

Quote of the Day ( a few weeks late!)

Tater just spent the past two weeks with Papa and Mimi for the first of her summer visits. She and Mimi actually had a great visit and enjoyed being together while Papa was at work. This is a big step for Tater, since we all know her world revolves around Papa! And even though she had a good time with Mimi, there were those occasional times when she had a rough moment or two!

Tater: I don't want you for a Mimi anymore! Bruiser can have you!
(Tater stomped away and then turned back.)
Tater: No, he doesn't want you either! We'll have to figure out what to do with you.
(Mimi tried to get her talk more about it and was cut short.)
Tater: No talking, no talking, no talking!

You'll be relieved to know that they made up in short order and life went on a usual!

Quote of the Day!

Our sitter got the children all dressed to go play outside this morning and just as they were about to walk out the back door it began to sprinkle! Tater got really upset and went to her room in tears (a fairly common occurrence in her 4-year-old life!). While she was there, she screamed down the stairs that she didn't see anything outside and that it was not raining. Our sitter told her to come down the stairs and look out on the deck to see the drops. Tater looked out the door and said "That's not rain - that's just the clouds peeing!"

Here We Go Again...

Tater goes through these stages when she comes out with the most hilarious comments...this must be one of those times!

Last night at dinner, she was angry with me because I told her what I served was dinner and that she could not have anything else until she ate what I gave her.

Tater: "I want a new Momma. You're not nice to me and I want a new Momma."
Momma: "Too bad the store is all out of new Mommas. I guess you're stuck with me.
Eat your dinner!"
Tater: "Well, then Mimi has to have a new daughter...one I like!"

Interesting thought, huh, Mimi?
